Tourism is a key sector in the Mediterranean, both in terms of protection and valorization of the natural and cultural resources and support of its recovery.

The Interreg Euro-MED programme has identified Sustainable Tourism as one of its four missions working on projects, initiatives and policies related to climate change and the environment in line with the priorities and specific objectives set out by the European Commission for the Cohesion policy.
