The thematic projects of the Sustainable Tourism Mission are organised into 4 Mediterranean Clusters, each grouping around a common topic in order to support the exchange of knowledge, enable the live-testing of results, and map potential synergies among initiatives working on related challenges.
This structure reflects the four Specific Objectives shared by all Thematic Missions of the Interreg Euro-MED programme, and which the Sustainable Tourism Mission uniquely integrates in full, given tourism’s transversal role across environmental, economic, and social dimensions. The Clusters are designed to support the transfer of practices and results to other actors and territories, and their integration into local, regional, national, and European policies and strategies, beyond the Sustainable Tourism Community.

MED Cluster Innovation: This Cluster will cover different topics related to the innovation and use of advanced technologies in the tourism sector, reinforcing tourism as a growth sector supporting environmental and climate change initiatives, improving innovation capacities, competitiveness internationalization and promoting new business models, among others.

MED Cluster Circular Economy: This Cluster will cover topics related to the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy, promoting the reduction of the environmental impact of the tourism sector through the efficient use of natural resources and waste reduction actions, boosting green and circular business models to overcome the scarcity and the overexploitation of the natural resources.

MED Cluster Climate Change: This Cluster will give answers to the key challenges related to climate change looking for better strategies for citizen involvement in the green transition.
