The Second Joint Annual Forum of the Sustainable Tourism Mission titled “Climate Adaptation in Tourism – Building capacity and policy integration” will take place next November 21st, 2024 from 9h00 to 11h15.

Organised as one of the side events within the Sun&Blue Congress, the most important annual meeting on Tourism and Blue Economy in Europe, the event aims to inspire and contribute to the adaptation and mitigation of climate change effects throughout the Mediterranean Tourism ecosystem.

Regional tourism departments and DMO’s will have the opportunity to receive clear and adaptable guidance on developing climate action plans through a Capacity Building session.

The event will culminate in a policy debate on “Adapting and Mitigating Climate Change in Tourism: Strategies & Policies” highlighting the views of a wide range of stakeholders, from representatives of regional tourism networks, environmental and development organisations, corporate ocean responsibility advocates, to initiatives for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the western Mediterranean region.

Besides, the event will continue with a session organised by the WestMED initiative, whose main objective is to  “strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the coastal and maritime tourism sector, as part of a smart and resilient blue economy. WestMED side event will take place from 11h30 to 13h30 and will be the “official launch” of the technical group, as well as serving as a hackathon for some specific project ideas/proposals.

If you are interested to participate, please reach out to our project team by writing to sustainable-tourism@interreg-euro-med.eu so we can facilitate your entry to the congress with a discount code.
