🌱 Sustainability at the III MED Sustainable Tourism Convention
The III MED Sustainable Tourism Convention is committed to minimising its environmental impact while ensuring an inclusive, accessible and responsible event experience for all participants, in alignment with recognised sustainability frameworks.
♻️ Our commitments as organisers
Sustainability principles are being integrated across all aspects of the Convention:
Measuring and reducing our carbon footprint
The Convention’s carbon footprint will be assessed using the Catalan Tourism Agency’s sustainable events calculator, considering participants’ travel, catering and venue-related impacts. This assessment will help identify the main sources of emissions and support the definition of appropriate mitigation and offsetting measures.
Responsible mobility and data collection
To better understand and reduce travel-related emissions, participants are invited during registration to indicate their place of departure and preferred mode of transport.
Please complete the mobility form.
Sustainable catering
Catering services prioritise local (km 0), seasonal and responsibly sourced products. Whenever possible, reusable tableware and service materials are used in place of single-use alternatives.
Food waste reduction
Measures will be implemented to minimise food waste. Where feasible, surplus food will be redistributed through partner organisations in compliance with food safety standards.
Waste reduction and recycling
Waste separation and recycling facilities will be available throughout the venue. Reusable accreditation systems will be implemented, avoiding plastic badge holders, and collection points will be provided to return lanyards and badges for reuse or recycling.
Circular use of materials
Where single-use items cannot be avoided, biodegradable or environmentally preferable alternatives will be prioritised. Additional circular solutions, such as takeaway options for surplus food, may also be considered.
Efficient venue management
The venue, the CCCB, promotes a sustainability culture aligned with current climate challenges through its participation in environmental programmes and its commitment to improving energy efficiency and reducing its carbon footprint.
More information about the venue’s sustainability initiatives is available on the website
🌍 ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION
We are committed to ensuring that the Convention is accessible and inclusive for all participants.
Accessible venue
The selected venue is designed to make culture and knowledge accessible to everyone, particularly people with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities. A range of resources and support measures are available to facilitate and improve the visitor experience.
More information about accessibility is available on the website.
Diversity, equity and inclusion
The Convention promotes diverse voices and perspectives, ensuring balanced and inclusive representation across sessions, speakers and participants.
🌱 A SHARED EFFORT
