A collaborative hybrid session organized by the Sustainable Tourism Mission through Dialogue4Tourism Project highlighting the tangible results and pilot actions of our Interreg Euro-MED Thematic Projects Herit Adapt, Libeccio, MedSkyTour, and Cool Noons

The Sustainable Tourism Mission through Dialogue4Tourism organised last Wednesday 10 June a new session of the Sustainable Tourism Policy Lab this time in Podgorica, Montenegro. It was a hybrid event organized by the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro that became a focal hub for strategic knowledge “transfer” aimed directly at influencing the region’s sustainable tourism policies. Supported by project partners of this project such as ASCAME (Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Spain) and El Legado Andalusí Andalusian Public Foundation (Regional Ministry of Culture and Sport of Andalusia, Spain), the encounter provided a powerful platform to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance coordination among public authorities and tourism stakeholders.

Among the prominent institutional contributions of the day was the active participation of Borka Lješković, from the National Contact Point for the Interreg Euro-MED Programme and URBACT IV within the Directorate for European Territorial Cooperation at the Ministry of European Affairs of Montenegro. The core focus of the policy lab was strictly dedicated to capitalizing on and disseminating the tangible results and pilot actions being deployed by the Interreg Euro-MED Sustainable Tourism Mission’s thematic projects within the country. Specifically, the session showcased the localized heritage adaptation and resilience strategies of the Herit Adapt project implemented in the pilot area of the municipality of Cetinje, followed by the destination management pilot actions of the Libeccio project developed in the municipality of Kotor. Furthermore, the event highlighted the ongoing tourism initiatives of the MedSkyTour project led alongside the NGO Center for Tourism Development and Cooperation, wrapping up the thematic block with the climate-focused mitigation measures of the Cool Noons project put into motion within the pilot area of the municipality of Budva. This comprehensive transfer of shared methodologies and practical solutions set the stage for participants to collaborate in roundtable exercises, co-designing real-world responses to regional governance, tourism innovation, the circular economy, and water scarcity challenges affecting Mediterranean destinations.
