On 5 October, around 60 representatives from public authorities, research centres, universities, businesses and territorial organisations gathered at the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN) in Barcelona for the Euro-MED Solutions Fair: Sustainability, Climate and Digitalisation.
Co-organised by the Barcelona Provincial Council (Diputació de Barcelona) in its role as coordinator of the Interreg Euro-MED Sustainable Tourism Mission’s Thematic Community Project, the event brought together stakeholders from across the Programme to discover, exchange and explore innovative solutions developed through European cooperation projects.
The Fair aimed to bridge the gap between project results and territorial needs by showcasing practical tools, methodologies and approaches addressing key Mediterranean challenges, including climate adaptation, sustainable tourism, energy transition, biodiversity, water management, mobility and digitalisation.
A highlight of the event was the Solutions Marketplace, where participants engaged directly with solution providers, exchanged experiences and identified opportunities for collaboration and replication. The dynamic format encouraged dialogue between those developing innovative practices and those interested in applying them in their own territories.
The closing session confirmed the strong interest generated by the solutions presented, with several participants expressing their willingness to explore follow-up discussions, future partnerships and potential replication actions.
The event demonstrated the importance of creating spaces where innovation meets local needs, helping maximise the impact of European projects and supporting the transition towards a more sustainable, resilient and connected Mediterranean.
